The hydrometer has a built-in gyroscope. It tilts at different angles depending on the density of the liquid, and this angle is converted into a specific gravity value using a fitting formula.

The device has no physical power button. It remains in sleep mode most of the time (no indicator light). By default, it updates data every 15 minutes (indicator light flashes once). When the battery level drops below 25%, it enters power-saving mode and updates data every hour instead.

When placed in pure water, the device's default tilt angle is about 25 degrees (±3 degrees). The higher the liquid density, the greater the tilt angle.

If the tilt angle is less than 15 degrees during the wake-up self-test, the device enters long sleep mode and performs a self-test every hour. Once placed in a liquid where the self-test angle exceeds 15 degrees, it switches to active mode. A single magnetic trigger will immediately initiate a self-test.

For first-time use, place the hydrometer in a container of pure water, allowing it to float freely. Wait for at least 30 minutes, then check the data reception count, battery level, and RSSI signal strength. If everything is normal, disinfect it by soaking in SS disinfectant or spraying with alcohol before placing it into the fermenter.

Stainless steel fermenters can block most WiFi signals. Try to minimize the distance between the router and the hydrometer and reduce obstructions. If the signal remains weak, consider installing a WiFi range extender above the fermenter.

Start recording a new batch when the hydrometer is placed into the fermenter. End the batch recording before taking the hydrometer out after fermentation is complete. This ensures the entire batch data is saved properly.
